Mercy E. Cadwallander

(1867–1934)

Cadwallander was a progressive thinker. As a pioneer of Spiritualism, she was responsible for placing the marker at the location of the Fox Cottage and the Plymouth Spiritualist Church. She organized the construction of the Andrew Jackson Memorial Lyceum building in Lily Dale, NY. Her dedication to Spiritualism and the preservation of the teachings are evident in Lily Dale. She knew the value of preserving the valuable history that is so important to many students of the religion.

Pioneers are an important part of our history. While the availability of some of the printed materials are rare, the information is important in understanding Spiritualism today. Spiritualism is a a religion based on the continuation of life and proving the phenomena that support the religion. Many pioneers paved the way for today's Spiritualists.
