At the age of 14 he was aware of the presence of spirit energy around him. At the age of 16 he was publicly active in mediumship as a Spiritualist. Because of his young age, he was known as the kitten orator. Because of his mediumship, tables and furniture moved during seances and was very good at automatic writing. Spiritualism is a a religion based on the continuation of life and proving the phenomena that support the religion. Many pioneers paved the way for today's Spiritualists.
